JOEY JAMES
Performer. Director. Educator.
Performer. Director. Educator.
Inspired and encouraged by local music greats, Joey has devoted his life to the study of music and music education. This journey started with guitar, piano, and voice lessons during his early years. Prior to college, Joey performed with a variety of bands, musical theatre productions, and contemporary music groups.
Joey’s passion continued to grow with every opportunity he was given, which led him to study Vocal and Instrumental Music Education at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, WCU. During his years at WCU, Joey performed as a featured vocalist with multiple ensembles/productions including the Kenneth Symphony and the Ziegfeld Society of NYC.
Upon graduating from WCU in 2015 with his Bachelor of Music, Joey returned to Northeastern Pennsylvania and spent 3 years teaching music for Wyoming Valley West School District, giving private music instruction, acting as Music Director and Vocal Coach for multiple theatres, and regionally touring with the holiday rock opera: TWELVE
TWENTY-FOUR where he acted as Vocal Director and now held the primary role of Lead Male Vocalist. You can find Joey’s talents on the band’s most recent album: TRANSCENDENCE as the feature for the bands rendition of “Mary, Did You Know?”.
In 2019, after spending many wonderful years in public education, Joey jumped, or you could say “Sailed Into”, the next chapter of his life and was welcomed as a performer on the high seas with Holland America Cruise Line‘s dueling piano show: BILLBOARD ONBOARD, produced by Windish Music and Productions in partnership with Billboard. This first class show features two singing pianists that cover all of the chart topping hits of the 1950’s to present day.
Now in 2020, Joey has relocated to Central Florida and is performing all over the region with some of the countries TOP Dueling Piano companies including: Felix And Fingers, Premier Dueling Pianos, and Orlando Dueling Pianos as well as working with The School District of Osceola County and spending time in the studio as a session vocalist for projects all over the world.
Furthering his musical studies, Joey is also currently working towards his Master of Music in Music Education from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a focus in Contemporary Voice.
Extremely grateful for the wonderful opportunity to travel the world and perform for people from all walks of life, Joey would like to thank everyone that has encouraged him, personally and professionally, to work hard, have faith, and follow his dreams.
